I'm Tired of this War..Another woman veteran raped...

There is a hole in the soul of America concerning this war. The presidential candidates are not even talking about a plan to the end this senseless war. Notice that the news doesn't even cover the casualty count anymore? And women veterans are really suffering.

Let me share with you a brief encounter i had on the plane,on my way to a conference in Florida. A distraught looking young woman,muttered to me as she passed me on the moving walkway," that she was going on emergency leave, because she was in the armed forces, and was just raped on the military base."

Regardless of what precipitated this event in her life, woman who serve this country should be given some special consideration and provisions other than separate baracks.

Over the years,I've had other male vets challenge me on this.They argue that women don't belong in the military.They weren't physically designed to withstand the the stresses of combat.They are delicate creatures whose role is to nurture and support men. And on a base or in combat, they are nothing more than distractions for men.

That if they can voluntarily enlist, then when/if the draft is resumed, they should be drafted too?Some of them act like men.

Sometimes the discussion would turn to women who become police officers.Very similar rationales were offered here too.
My summarized thoughts on this subject are:

SERVE~~SUFFER~~EQUAL!!!

Kendra	Part 2 of my comment: I can tell you where those billions of dollars could go towards to help some much needy people over here. Skid Row, yes, Skid Row. There are Some cases of people there who genuinely and desperately are wanting to rise out of that negativity, but they need the means financially to get completely away from what is bringing them down. It disgust me to the core to hear that a woman was raped, period. The 'Men' who do these degrading acts should suffer to the highest degree. Richard, I don't mind at all being that woman figure that you stated that you grew up to know. Working outside the home, wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, I am all these things and more! There are some women who love to stay at home and be the stay at home parent and housewife. That is totally fine b/c depending on the circumstances in their lives, that probably works best for them. If a woman wants to work outside the home and take on a strenuous task, I say go for it, Girlfriend:)!

Kendra	I totally agree with you, Viveca and Shannon! Many men come up to me and say that I should be behind a desk answering the phone instead of climbing on a 32' ladder painting. So, you know what I tell them. I can do the painting that you can do and do it 20 times better b/c I'm precise and conscious of what I do for the public!! Many of these men that approach me have no integrity and are very sloppy when it comes to handling business. So, I say to all women, if you have a passion for whatever it is you choose to do in life to make a living whether it's considered to be a 'Man's Territory' or not, go for it!! Now, there are billions. BILLIONS OF DOLLARS per state that is being spent on such a senseless war! Richard, you say that you are going to stay strong and you feel that it's going to be a disaster if we pulled out of there, well, do you really believe being there one more minute or another 10 years is going to bring the resolve that's needed in Iraq?

Shannon	Very well said, Viveca. Women are just as strong as men, and should have the same rights and considerations. Plenty of women in history and in the present have proved themselves to be strong people, on and off the battlefield.
