| SHOUT BOX | Hi there! My name is Eric Kanavathi. I was born in May 24th 1989 at 12:15 a.m. (0015 hours) in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia. I’m currently studying in Cosmopoint in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah to do a Diploma in IT (Software Engineering). Generally, I'm a lonely person and I always have few friends to talk to. I always wanted to break my silence but sometimes people just won't talk to me as a normal person. There's a song called "Break the Silence" by Killswitch Engage on my Project Playlist and listen to the lyrics and you'll understand what I mean. In some cases, sometimes I can’t seem tell everything where people will spread rumors about me and some of the things I said will might be a sensitive issue. I love entertainment just like everybody else, especially when it comes to music. I seldom listen to radio stations it’s because they are tedious and boring when listening to them everyday.
I have to admit that I’m not the person who likes to study. But like any other parents want their children to study hard to get better graduation, I just want to make my parents proud so that they will know that I’m still standing up. I wish that I am in Philadelphia or New York it’s because I can get better education and one more thing; I want to play basketball for the National Basketball Association (NBA), it’s because firstly, I’m doing it for my family, who are still pursuing me to studies but I just want them to know I want to be a basketball player even though they look at it as a garbage job and my country, which is still in the comfort zone. Sometimes, I can’t stand them of not giving opportunities for other states and the Malaysian Government is still full of themselves where they pick their own people (Malaysia has 3 main races Malay, Chinese and Indians but the government only treats the Malay people because they think Malays can do anything while others can’t). It’s a huge road-block for other races that are unable to progress to get the better jobs. That's why Malaysia is completely a NOBODY while other Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) countries are more attracted to the Western countries.
People say that to qualify to NBA is extremely difficult it’s because NBA will only pick ONE of the best Asian player and Malaysia itself isn’t attractive to sports where Malaysia only depend on some sports like soccer, badminton, swimming and athletics. They don’t seem to open up to learn and experience other sports like American Football, baseball, ice hockey and handball. What a shame!! It’s a BIG shame for me it’s because first of all, I was born in the third-world country which has more disadvantages than any part of the world just to achieve more success. In fact, Malaysia seems to fall asleep for too long after a brilliant success in the 60s and 70s and I can barely see my country slack, unlike countries in Africa, which they can achieve brilliantly in sports, despite of living in poverty. I can live on Earth only once until God calls me to Heaven it’s because in life, there’s no way of rewinding the time line and there’s no second chance to live on Earth.
There’s another obstacle to overcome in life, which is love. I know that when you are a teenager, you will have a high school sweetheart but suddenly you will realized that your fairytale love story had ended in a bad way it’s because of lack of understanding, the on-going conflict between the two genders and one of them will have an affair with another partner without anyone knowing. Frankly, guys suppose to be protectors and responsible in every single situation, and disciplinary is the most essential value for every man if he wants to live in a perfect family. On the other hand, women are the most precious people in the world and they are providers for the family. However, they can be as sensitive as cats if a guy says something insulting and hurting. Women can be easily being assaulted and raped by guys who are becoming sex predators and to those who are addicted into drugs. I feel sorry for the rape victims and there’s nothing I can do to help but to pray for them.
For my case, it’s a different story where I met this girl, her name is Amanda Lee. She is younger and shorter than me. But, there’s a problem, I was requested to be her boyfriend even before my mid-term exams!! I’d tried my best to make her understand as I’m preparing for exams but she desperately wants me to talk to her!! But, I told her that there are a lot of boys in this world that she can find and don’t be in the hurry to get a boyfriend just to find happiness. I added that she should be patient and time will come. Honestly, I did this is NOT because that I hate her but I just want to make her understand, that’s all.
Many of us have our own heroes and idols that can bring your life to the better future. I was inspired by many people but I can only pick some where there are too many people to name. Firstly, the U.S. Presidential candidate, Barack Obama where he is currently battling against the opposing candidate, John McCain for the oval office to take over George w. Bush as the president. That shows even though you are an underdog, it doesn’t mean that you cannot be competitive and win an event or a tournament. Secondly, I was inspired by Will Smith is because he’s a fighter where he was nominated for 2 Oscars for the best actor in a leading role. But, there’s something that other celebrities didn’t have. Although he achieved so many successes in movies and music scenes, he also gets to spend time with his family without a single drama and scandal. Then, I was also inspired by golf’s world number one, Tiger Woods. He plays a big role throughout my life that made me want to step up and not fall back to pursue my dreams. Finally, I also inspired by NBA players where how they overcome their fears and doubts in life and play in the NBA as their strength to overcome their negativity.
Before I conclude this short story, when I have free time, I want to date someone who can be a fire that lights up the candle and I hope that candle will burn until my heart stops beating. However, that someone I can’t tell you the name it’s because of rumor spreading that can bring my reputation down and someone can piss me off like hell. Thank you for reading!!!
