I am not gonna talk about myself. I am gonna talk about music. What I hate is these hundreds and hundreds of sub genres for what is essentially just metal. Hardcore, posthardcore, metalcore, thrash metal, nu-metal, black metal, death metal, melodic death metal, gothic metal, grindcore, grunge, industrial metal, viking metal..etc Its just too much. If you listen to a band you will often find elements of a lot of sub genres. So why catergorise a band as being grindcore if it also contains elements of a lot of other subgenres? Yes maybe you need some sub genres but not to the extent it is atm. But that list is by far not all of them. The point I am making is that people sit there arguing over what genre a band is. Can you not just enjoy the music without worrying about what genre it is. Does it even matter? You like the music. End it there. Who actually gives a s**t whether its metalcore or thrash metal? It doesn't f**king matter!
Another thing I hate is labelling a band "emo" because of what they look like. Its so so IRONIC how half the world's metal song's lyrics are what people would call emo if they didn't know what band it was. Seperate to the last sentance, I bet if you took someone like Ollie Sykes and put him at the front of a band like Venom (most would consider black metal) they would be considered emo. See what i'm saying?
"The razor caressed my flesh and my arms turned red,
I feel a vast desire
Years of pain are flowing down my arms.
Sweet, red, warm stream you drink, make me released
Give me your hand, let me make you feel the ease,
In the Bed Of Razors we bleed together.."
Guess the band above? Children of Bodom.. Melodic death metal. If they had a "scene" haircut I guess they would be considered emo by most peoples standards. Its quite sad really.
