I grew up in a rock n' roll radio station that my father owned. The guys in my family are musical, my Dad played xylophone in a jazz band, my brother is a rock n' roll drummer and my nephew plays drums in a punk band. I am an English Major and have minors in the Film Arts and Political Science. I have worked in Military Intelligence (is that an oxy-moron or what?), Internet Sales and Marketing, Indymedia Op-ed writer, Internet Publishing, Technical Writing, Media Ratings Analyst, Union Waitress (in DC), Customer Service, Singer/Backup Vocalist in a band, Retail Sales. Right now, I am a community activist and Internet Networker and Consultant (and Internet Junkie!). During the day I am an End of Life or Death Doula. Most of my patients are Hospice cases and often, my work often takes me to the dying person's bedside. This work is very rewarding to me and I love working with the families as well. I am also a licensed CNA. In my spare time (what little bit I have), I appreciate the Arts, Music and Film. I spend a lot of my time writing, reading, camping (when I can), being outdoors, swimming, yoga, meditation, caring for my animals and nature. I love the news, current affairs and politics and intelligent comedy, news programs, NPR, Community Radio, and boxing on TV. I listen to music of all kinds, sing and play percussion and a little guitar and hand drumming. My mate and I are currently residing in Zephyrhills, Florida, in the woods just north of Tampa, the home of our state's famous SPRING WATERS and very close to the headwaters of the Hillsborough River (in the Green Swamp). We are also exploring the possibility of eventually living in an INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY, not sure where. We love to gourmet cook, swim, play with our fur and scale children and watch good movies when we are at home. Not into sports really. I like boxing on TV, the Olympics, etc., that is about it.
Music:
I have been a vocalist and backup singer for a folk/rock band, now I just sing in the shower! (Great acoustics in there! Actually I sing wherever there are people who want to hear me!) I have played and experimented with the flute, the recorder, the xylophone, guitar, drums and percussion. Music is my first love, it would be impossible for me to list all the genres that I prefer, I like EVERYTHING from ALTERNATIVE to ZYDECO! Want to get a dulcimer soon! Current favs (but these change often) are Michael Franti, John Butler Trio, G Love and Special Sauce, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Joss Stone, Jill Scott, John Legend, Alicia Keys, Imogen Heap, Feist, Corinne Bailey Rae. I LOVE drum circles and participate at some of the big ones around here in westcentral Florida and on our beaches here when I can.

TV:
Firstly, I want to say that most TV is simply SUBLIMINAL ADVERTISING!!! Like Michael Franti and Gil Scott Heron, I believe that TELEVISION is the DRUG OF THE NATION and is mostly propaganda as the programming and stations are owned and controlled by a handful of people that work in tandem with the corporations. I would much rather listen to music, read a book or read something edifying online during my down time. If you have cable or satellite, remember, others can "see" what you are watching! Analog signals will not exist in a few years, so soon TV's WITHOUT cable or satellite service will be obsolete as you will not be able to get a signal with the new TVs that are coming out and without being connected to a service of some sort. Time to learn Morse Code to be able to spread the news. There are a few programs I will watch on occasion and only when I have the time and the inclination, most of them have to do with news, education and comedy and a few random drama programs. Some of these are: CSI, Medium, Ghost Whisperer, Late Night Comedy, News Programs and PBS! Jon Stewart and the Daily Show, Letterman, Conan, Leno (depends on what guests are on), The Colbert Report, Will and Grace, Seinfeld, News Magazines such as 20/20, the View, Martha Stewart, Boxing, Saturday Night Live, Mad TV, Rachel Ray, Oprah, ER, Cold Case, Law and Order, AMERICAN IDOL, Rock Star, Survivor Man and SURVIVOR. I LOVE the gardening, cooking and How-To programs on educational TV and let's not forget anything about music, history, cultural topics or travel!
